Hosted Solutions

In order to streamline your IT costs you may choose a “hosted option” to meet your IT requirements.

The term “cloud computing” is often used to define hosted solutions. “The Cloud” is reference to the Internet so “cloud computing” are services delivered over the internet, from servers that you don’t own (i.e they are not part of your network). You will usually pay a rental fee to use such servers and the fees are normally costed on a per user basis. Examples of typical cloud applications you may be familiar with include Facebook, Skype, PayPal and Google Apps.

The most common cloud application used by businesses is the hosted desktop. A hosted desktop is where you can use any computer to access your PC wherever you may be. You will have access to all your applications, emails and documents and easily share files with colleagues.

Other hosted options include having a hosted server – rather than running your own servers in your own offices you outsource them to a professional data centre; web based applications where you can rent user accounts for different applications (having a hosted Exchange for Outlook means you can rent individual mailboxes and you pay per user. This way you are able to enjoy all of the benefits of Exchange such as shared calendars without the financial outlay) and hosted software for example accounting packages.
