We sent an email recently to our clients asking them about what sort of topics they would like to see addressed within our monthly newsletter. One of the first emails we received back was this one:
“Hi Angie, Yes I would love your input on how to stop unwanted e-mails and spam without costing a fortune. This is a high priority subject to me as my staff and I are wasting precious time on reading and deleting rubbish. Help help help ! ! !”
This email was sent by the Managing Director of an engineering client who had reached almost breaking point because of spam. On a daily basis he and his team received well over 100 spam messages to their inboxes and every morning they spent 15 minutes on average (longer on Mondays as the amount of spam tripled over the weekend) filtering the spam messages from legitimate emails. His frustration was understandable when you calculate how much time was lost on a weekly basis due to the tedious task of reading and deleting spam messages and the inevitable effects on staff productivity.
This was not the first time we had received this particular SOS from our client and each time our answer was the same – setup protection at the internet gateway (where all the emails come through before hitting their inboxes).
